Burnin’ Up Tour review

8/10

I definitely have no regrets because it was such a fun time and everyone there for the most part was very excited and ready to give it their all.

As a kid, I didn’t grow up with Disney, so a lot of of millennial or other groups lore doesn’t hit with me. But of course, I’ve always known who the Jonas Brothers are, and I’ve enjoyed their solo projects without really realizing that they put out so much music as a group when they were young.

To be honest, the music of their youth is pretty unlistenable, and I would love if they re-recorded the vocals because the songs are obviously good and have stuck with tons of people for years and years. But I prefer to listen to the expected set before shows and this did make it difficult to prepare for the Burning up tour. I was so shocked that those tweenagers grew up to become the Jonas Brothers themselves.

For example, I did not even know that Dnce was the project of a Jonas Brothers. I just loved cake by the ocean and every other song that I heard. Nick Jonas had much more name recognition for me and he also writes great songs, so when I was invited to go to the Burning up tour by some new friends, I had to jump on the opportunity. I definitely have no regrets because it was such a fun time and everyone there for the most part was very excited and ready to give it their all.

Apparently, the brothers have been running with the same playlist for quite a while, but since I’m new to the Jonas Brothers, it was all surprises for me. I enjoyed it so much that I saw the show again in Boston after seeing the first night of the New York burning up show (which wasn’t announced as a tour yet).

The second half of the show was definitely my favorite and by the way, I appreciated the intermission as a millennial with questionable knee and other joints.

I can’t believe the Backwards moment was started by a fan because it has taken on its own life and is pretty epic. I’ve also heard that there used to be a little Waffle House choreography, and the irony of three actors not being able to handle one piece of choreography is amazing.

But I can’t complain much about the actual burning up part of the show since the songs are super enjoyable live and everyone brings the energy and sing-alongs. I just beg those boys to re-record as men so that I can really listen to the songs and enjoy them for what they are.
